The Story Behind SMS Naija's National Directory

Before SMS Naija, finding the right school in Nigeria usually meant word of mouth, scattered social media pages, or driving around a neighbourhood hoping to spot a signboard. There was no single place to compare institutions across the country. We built SMS Naija's directory to fix that — a searchable, filterable national listing spanning Primary/Secondary schools by default, with Tertiary, Vocational, Tech, and Virtual School categories a filter away. Each category exposes the search fields that actually matter to it: programmes and departments for Tertiary institutions, trades and courses for Vocational and Tech schools. But we didn't stop at a directory. Once we saw how much of a school's daily operation still happened on paper, we built the management tools to go with it — so the same platform that helps a parent find a school also helps that school run itself. That's still the mission today: one national directory, genuinely useful management tools behind it.
