User Policy
Last updated: 11 August 2026
This document describes how the SMS Naija platform actually works today. It is provided for transparency and is not a substitute for independent legal advice — if you need a legal opinion on how this applies to your school or your use of the platform, please consult a qualified lawyer.
This User Policy supplements our Terms & Conditions with practical, role-specific rules for using SMS Naija responsibly. It applies to every account on the platform, however it was created — self-registered or provisioned by a school.
1. Account security, everyone
- Keep your password confidential and unique to SMS Naija. Never share login credentials, even with colleagues at the same school.
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) where it's offered — it is mandatory for Superadmin accounts.
- Report a suspected compromised account immediately via Contact Support or WhatsApp.
- You're responsible for activity under your account. If your role changes or you leave a school, ask the school to update or deactivate your account.
2. School Owners and Admins (Financial, Admissions)
- Provide accurate CAC, contact, and settlement bank details — this data underpins fee collection and payouts to your school.
- When bulk-uploading student, parent, or teacher records, ensure the data is accurate and that you have the appropriate authority (e.g. parental consent obtained through your own enrollment process) to upload it.
- Fee, attendance, and admissions records entered on the platform should reflect reality — falsified academic or financial records are a serious breach and may result in account suspension.
- Use the Communication Hub / broadcast tools for legitimate school communication, not unrelated promotional messaging to parents/students.
3. Teachers
- Record attendance and grades accurately and promptly; these records may be relied on by parents, admissions decisions, and printable certificates.
- Only access student records for classes/subjects you actually teach.
4. Parents and Students
- Use the parent/student portal for its intended purpose — viewing records, making fee payments, and communicating with the school.
- Keep contact details (used for SMS/email notifications) up to date with your school.
- Be respectful in any communication sent through the platform.
5. Skill Hub learners
- Skill Hub eligibility requirements exist so free courses and certificates reach genuinely qualified users — attempting to circumvent eligibility checks is not permitted.
- Certificates are issued for genuine, individual course completion and may not be transferred, resold, or issued on another person's behalf.
6. Royal Marketers
- Represent SMS Naija accurately when referring schools — do not make false claims about pricing, features, or guaranteed outcomes.
- Referral codes are for genuine, independent school sign-ups. Self-referral, fake school registrations, or coordinating fraudulent sign-ups to inflate commission will result in forfeited commission and account termination.
- No spam: don't use bulk unsolicited messaging to promote your referral code.
7. Prohibited for everyone
- Attempting to access accounts, schools, or data you're not authorized to view.
- Scraping, reverse-engineering, or automated bulk-extraction of platform data (including the school directory).
- Uploading malicious files or content through admissions, bulk-upload, or any other file-upload feature.
- Interfering with the platform's availability or security (including attempts to bypass 2FA or rate limits).
- Impersonating another user, school, or SMS Naija staff.
8. Enforcement
Depending on severity, a violation of this policy may result in a warning, temporary suspension, permanent account termination, forfeiture of pending Royal Marketer commissions, and — where student, parent, or financial data is involved — a report to the relevant school owner. Serious violations (fraud, unauthorized access) may also be reported to the appropriate Nigerian authorities.
9. Reporting a violation
If you believe another user is violating this policy, or you've found a security issue, tell us at info@smsnaija.com or via Contact Support.
